Hey lady, that’s all Greek to me.
Yeah, I know. And for those of you who are interested, here’s a breakdown of what each item means.
1. WordPress Optimized Hosting
Website Hosting is where your website files live in the the mythical cloud. There are right and wrong ways to handle this piece. Because it’s the very foundation of your website, you’ll want this to be configured just right so it’s blazing fast and super secure.
2. Server-side Security Checks
There are two sides to every website: the server side and the client side. The server side means that actions are happening where the website files live on the hosting server. The client side means that actions are happening on the website visitor’s computer. We keep a close eye on the server 24/7 to keep things locked down.
3. SSL Certificate + SSL Maintenance
You know that little padlock in the corner of the URL (www.website.com) box? That’s to indicate whether or not the website you’re visiting has an SSL (secure socket layer) certificate. It’s basically proof of “I’m not a robot or a hacker,” but it specifically means that the website has layers of encrypted protection so that spying eyes can’t pry into your personal computer through the website. Yeah, the internet can be a scary place.
4. Domain + Domain Maintenance
Your domain is that “www.awesomewebsite.com” thing you buy with your organization’s name in it. This gets connected to your hosting + SSL. If your web hosting is your car’s engine and your SSL is your umbrella insurance, think of your domain as the key to start the engine. Added perk: with us, you’ll never have to worry about your domain expiring again. It happens a lot more than you think in the DIY world, and will take down your entire website if you’re not paying attention.
5. Website Security + Daily Malware Scans
We got your back, boo. We want to make sure nothing fishy or nefarious is happening on your website. At. All. Times. We’ll be checking to make sure your website is constantly free of malware and has the strongest protections available against hackers.
6. Daily Backups with 90-day Retention
Imagine the worst happens: your website goes down, and all the information on the server is gone. That means your website has vanished into a digital black hole, never to be seen again. Could you afford to start over on a new website immediately? Do you have the time and the assets for such an emergency? Instead of worrying about this scenario, be confident that it will never be a problem with daily website backups.
6. Preventative Maintenance
As technology evolves, new functionalities come available. When we hear of a new plugin or service that needs to become a staple on every website, you better believe we’re adding it to yours. This could be anything from a new security plugin feature to an emailing capability, or something uniquely related to the functionality on your website. The best part? We do this silently in the background— you won’t even know we’re there, silently cheering your online business on.
7. Software Core Updates
WordPress releases core software updates periodically — every couple of months or so as technology develops and hackers find avenues to exploit. If WordPress (as with any website platform) is left un-updated, your website will be vulnerable to attacks from hackers. In addition to these holes being the fastest way for a hacker to break into your website, similar functionality holes will break your website in the blink of an eye. It’s like driving a car and never changing the oil. If the core isn’t maintained, eventually the whole thing will come to a screeching halt.
*Note: I’m really not a car enthusiast, but apparently car analogies are my thing here.
8. Plugin Updates
What is a plugin? Think of it as an app that is built to integrate into your website’s core software to provide additional functions, such as an event calendar or social media share buttons. These plugins are built by developers. And each plugin is usually built by a different developer. Each developer will release updates as technology changes and evolves to keep your website safe and running smoothly. Your plugins need to be updated to maintain compatibility with the latest WordPress core update. As a result, plugin updates occur several times each week.
9. Theme Updates
The theme on your website controls the outward appearance (read: DESIGN) of your website. These updates happen just like plugins, but are less frequent. Nevertheless, it’s important to stay on top of these updates when they come available.
10. Priority Support
We love our clients, and we want your business to succeed. We’re already invested in you, which is why all of our maintenance clients receive priority support when they reach out. That’s right— you automatically get to jump ahead of the line, just for being one of my favorites.
11. Uptime Monitoring
Are you checking your website 24/7 to make sure it’s still running? We are!
12. Premium Form Plugin Licensure
Listen, it’s only the best of the best for our customers. If you’re not using a good form to capture leads on your website, then your website may not be working for you. The best form plugins are expensive, but not when you’re on my team! We provide licensure to premium form plugins and more at no additional cost to you.
13. Page Speed Performance Monitoring
If your website is running slow, fact: you’re losing customers. The internet is fast-paced, and you definitely don’t want to lose the race to your competition. Don’t worry— we’ll keep an eye on it for you, and will work to speed things up behind the scenes if we spot a problem.
14. Content Updates
That’s right: new photos, fresh copy changes, and email support are all included in your website maintenance plan. We cap this at 30 minutes per month to keep the monthly cost as low as possible, but you can always get more time if need be.
15. Detailed Monthly Reporting
Think of this as your receipt at the end of each month. We’ll let you know everything we did to keep your website tuned up, so you can rest easy knowing that you’re absolutely getting your money’s worth!
Cancel Anytime
The best part? Cancel anytime. You call the shots here. Sure, I’ll shout from the mountaintops at every opportunity about the importance of maintenance. But ultimately, this is YOUR business and YOUR online home. You know what’s best. After all, nobody likes getting locked into a contract, right?
. . .
Oh, but there’s more
Those are just the basics. I won’t bore you with the nitty-gritty details on everything else our plans have to offer— unless you want to grab a coffee and chat more about them. Let me know!
I need even more than what you have listed
Many clients require a higher level of maintenance than just the basics, and we have plans for that. In addition to the standard checklist items listed above in each plan, we offer additional a la carte options for blog posting, updating your events calendar, or regularly reformatting sections of content. Reach out to discuss more details.
Is Website Maintenance right for you?
Ask yourself:
- Are you confident you can update the plugins, platform, and monitor for brute-force hacking independently?
- Are you nervous about the security of your website?
- Are you concerned about making a mistake on your website while you make a content edit?
- Are you too busy to keep up with your website maintenance?
