One Amazing Trick to Connecting with Your Customers from Your Website
The world wide web is chock-full of websites. There’s a website for anything and everything imaginable under the sun! It’s hard to stand out from the online crowd, but there is one sure-fire way to help your site visitors remember you.
Get an “About Us” page and put your story out there.
People want to hear about you. People want to know how you got started, what drove you to start your business, where you came from, and why you’re doing what you’re doing. They want to see you – really SEE you. So put your picture up there. Maybe a strong headshot, or a more candid family photo. People LIKE that sort of thing, and are more likely to go with your company versus another unknown online presence.
A couple weeks ago I was “introduced” to another business woman through Facebook. I shared a little bit about me with her along with a link to my website. A few minutes later, she told me how very amazed she was with my website. Even though we had never met face to face, she felt like she KNEW me, like there was a CONNECTION. She attributed this to my “About” page, where I give a few silly details about what makes me, me.
I’m connecting with my customers by putting myself out there, being open, honest, and being real. So connect with your customers by putting yourself out there.
So, whatever your story is, we want to hear it. We want to know why you wake up in the morning, what makes you tick. You’re more likely to land the job, get the deal, or snag that contract if you make a connection with your prospective customer. The best way to do that: tell us a thing or two about you.
